Market Analysis & Outlook
Non-destructive testing services cover the inspection, evaluation and certification of materials, welds, components and structures for flaws or degradation without damaging the item under test, performed using ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, eddy-current and visual methods. Services are delivered on-site or at accredited laboratories by certified inspectors, either as an in-house function within an asset owner's own operations or outsourced to a specialized third-party inspection provider. Buyers include operators and manufacturers across oil and gas, aerospace and defense, power generation, automotive, and infrastructure and construction, where regulatory codes and safety programs require periodic or in-process inspection.
The global non destructive testing services market stood at USD 18.5 billion in 2025. A forecast-period rate of 7.12% takes it to USD 34.47 billion by 2034, and the study reports every year in between, passing USD 12.1 billion in 2020, USD 17.05 billion in 2024, USD 19.88 billion in 2026 and USD 26.35 billion in 2030.
Composition changes more than the total does. Eddy-Current, at 10.24%, outgrows Radiography at 5.87%, and its share moves from 9.99% to 12.99%. Ultrasonic stays the largest line throughout, at USD 5.55 billion in 2025 and USD 10.69 billion in 2034. Share moves toward Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle and Eddy-Current and away from Radiography, Liquid Penetrant and Visual Inspection, though no line shrinks in revenue terms.
Cut by market size, by type, the largest line is Traditional Non-Destructive Testing Services: 62% of 2025 revenue, worth USD 11.47 billion, and 53.99% at USD 18.61 billion by 2034. Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Services grows faster at 9.46% against 5.52%, moving from 38% of revenue to 46.01% by 2034. Both this axis and the market size, by product one divide the same revenue, which is why they are alternative views, not components.
The regional order runs from North America at 32% of 2025 revenue down to Middle East and Africa at 6%. North America is worth USD 5.92 billion in 2025 and USD 9.65 billion in 2034; Asia Pacific, second at 30%, moves from USD 5.55 billion to USD 12.41 billion. Because Asia Pacific and Latin America take share, the revenue added by 2034 concentrates instead of spreading across all five regions.
Coverage extends to five regions, six market size, by product lines and five segmentation axes over the full fifteen years. The 2025 total itself is arrived at by triangulating published aggregates against category proxies, not by an independent count, and the splits below are estimated on that same basis, a bound on their precision worth carrying into any use of them.

Key Takeaways
- Revenue grows from USD 18.5 billion in 2025 to USD 34.47 billion in 2034, a compound annual rate of 7.12%, having reached USD 17.05 billion in 2024 from USD 12.1 billion in 2020.
- Ultrasonic is the largest market size, by product line at USD 5.55 billion in 2025, a 29.98% share, reaching USD 10.69 billion and 31% of revenue by 2034.
- Eddy-Current is the fastest-growing line at 10.24%, lifting its share from 9.99% in 2025 to 12.99% in 2034 and its revenue from USD 1.85 billion to USD 4.48 billion.
- Scenario range for 2034 runs from USD 31.69 billion in the bear case to USD 37.5 billion in the bull case, against a base-case USD 34.47 billion, the spread a plan built on this forecast has to absorb.
- The largest region is North America, generating USD 5.92 billion in 2025 (32% of the global total) and USD 9.65 billion by 2034, ahead of Asia Pacific at 30%.
- The United States accounts for 78.04% of North America in the base year, worth USD 4.62 billion in 2025 and reaching USD 7.53 billion by 2034, the worked country example carried through that region's chapters.
- Every line on all five segmentation axes and in each of the five regions carries its own revenue, share and growth rate for all fifteen years, 2020 through 2034, on a 2025 base.
Market Trends
Revenue Share, By Market Size, by Type
Base year 2025Traditional Non-Destructive Testing Services leads with 62.0% of market size, by type segment revenue.
Share of market size, by type segment revenue, most recent base year.
Read across the forecast period, the global non destructive testing services market shows movement in three places: market size, by product composition, regional weight, and the 7.12% rate applied to the whole.
The direction of the market is not in question in any of the three. Each line and each region grows in revenue terms; what separates them is which takes the larger part of the growth.
The market size, by product mix tilts toward Eddy-Current. Eddy-Current grows at 10.24% across 2026-2034 against 5.87% for Radiography, the widest spread on the market size, by product axis. Over the forecast period that moves Eddy-Current from 9.99% of revenue to 12.99%, and Radiography from 19.99% to 17.98%. Revenue rises on both sides; USD 1.85 billion to USD 4.48 billion and USD 3.7 billion to USD 6.2 billion respectively, so this is a change in composition, not a contraction, and one forecast window is long enough for it to matter.
The regional balance moves. Asia Pacific moves from 30% of revenue in 2025 to 36% in 2034, worth USD 5.55 billion rising to USD 12.41 billion; Latin America moves from 8% of revenue in 2025 to 9% in 2034, worth USD 1.48 billion rising to USD 3.1 billion. The offsetting side is North America at 32% moving to 28%, Europe at 24% moving to 21%, Middle East and Africa at 6% moving to 6%, none of which contracts. Growth is therefore not something a participant inherits from the market; it depends on which regions its revenue is weighted toward.
The series never breaks trajectory. Year by year the total runs USD 12.1 billion in 2020, USD 17.05 billion in 2024, USD 18.5 billion in 2025, USD 19.88 billion in 2026, USD 26.35 billion in 2030 and USD 34.47 billion in 2034. Against 8.87% through the historical period, the 7.12% forecast rate is a continuation; no year in the series interrupts it. For a participant that makes planning a question of capturing a share of steady expansion instead of timing a discontinuity, and it is why the market size, by product and regional mixes matter more to a forecast than the headline rate does.
Market Growth Factors
Eddy-Current adds the most incremental growth
Market Drivers
3- 01Eddy-Current adds the most incremental growth
10.24% growth in Eddy-Current, against 7.12% for the market as a whole, moves it from USD 1.85 billion and 9.99% of revenue in 2025 to USD 4.48 billion and 12.99% in 2034. Set against 5.87% at the other end of the axis, this is the line that decides whether the market's 7.12% holds. Exposure to this line, not to the market as a whole, is what determines a supplier's own rate.
- 02Regional weight, not regional count
North America is the largest region at USD 5.92 billion in 2025, 32% of global revenue, and reaches USD 9.65 billion by 2034 while holding 28%. Asia Pacific adds a further 30% at USD 5.55 billion, reaching USD 12.41 billion. Together the two account for the majority of both the 2025 base and the revenue added by 2034, which is why a regional plan treating all five regions at equal weight misreads where the growth actually lands.
- 03The trend is already in the record
Revenue rose through USD 12.1 billion in 2020, USD 17.05 billion in 2024 and USD 18.5 billion in 2025, a compound 8.87% across the historical period. The forecast continues at 7.12% to USD 34.47 billion in 2034. Because the growth is already in the record and not only in the projection, the rate is held flat across the forecast instead of ramped, and the risk in the number sits in the mix assumptions, not in whether the market grows at all.

| # | Restraint | Impact | Estimated reduction (Billion) | 2026-28 | 2029-31 | 2032-34 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Shortage of certified NDT technicians constraining service delivery capacity | Medium | −0.55 | Medium | Medium | Low |

Drivers contribute 16.97 Billion and restraints remove 1 Billion, a net 15.97 Billion, which is the revenue the market adds between the base year and 2034. Contributions are CDI estimates, apportioned so that they reconcile with the forecast rather than being read from it.
Growth in the global non destructive testing services market comes from three measurable sources over 2026-2034: the market's own compounding at 7.12%, the share gained by faster-growing market size, by product lines, and expansion in the regions taking a larger part of global revenue.
Restraining Factors
The bear case and what drives it
Market Restraints
2- 01The bear case and what drives it
A bear case of USD 31.69 billion in 2034, against USD 34.47 billion in the base case, rests on one stated assumption: regulatory tightening in emerging markets is delayed, and a persistent shortage of certified inspection technicians constrains service delivery capacity below the base case through the forecast period. Neither case changes the USD 18.5 billion 2025 base.
- 02Radiography grows below the market rate
Radiography carries 19.99% of 2025 revenue at USD 3.7 billion but compounds at 5.87% against 7.12% for the market, taking its share to 17.98% by 2034 even as revenue rises to USD 6.2 billion. Because it carries that much of the base, its pace holds the blended rate down more than any faster line lifts it.
Market Opportunities
Where the forecast could be beaten
Market Opportunities
2- 01Where the forecast could be beaten
Faster adoption of automated and robotic inspection lowers cost per inspection and expands addressable volume faster than the base case, while infrastructure capital spending in Asia Pacific and the Gulf states accelerates ahead of the base forecast. On that assumption the market reaches USD 37.5 billion by 2034 against USD 34.47 billion in the base case, from the same USD 18.5 billion in 2025.
- 02The opening is on the market size, by product axis, not the regional one
Eddy-Current grows at 10.24% against 7.12% for the market, adding revenue from USD 1.85 billion in 2025 to USD 4.48 billion in 2034 and taking its share from 9.99% to 12.99%. It is the place on this axis where share changes hands at scale, so it is where an entrant can take position without displacing the incumbent in Ultrasonic.
Market Challenges
The total depends on a single line
Market Challenges
2- 01The total depends on a single line
With 29.98% of 2025 revenue and 31% of 2034 revenue (USD 5.55 billion rising to USD 10.69 billion) Ultrasonic is where the market's exposure sits. No other single change on the market size, by product axis moves the total as much as a change in demand for that one line.
- 02North America is largely the United States
North America is worth USD 5.92 billion in 2025 and USD 4.62 billion of that is the United States; 78.04% of the region, reaching USD 7.53 billion in 2034. Read as a region it looks diversified; read by weight it is not, and the regional forecast inherits whatever happens in that one market.
Segmentation Analysis
5 axesSegmentation runs along five axes: market size, by product, market size, by type, market size, by application, market size, by end use industry and market size, by service mode. Each axis cuts the same total revenue along a different commercial dimension, so the splits are alternative views of one market, not additions to it.
Six market size, by product lines are reported. Three of them take share over the forecast period and the rest give it up, though every line grows in absolute terms between 2025 and 2034.

| Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Services | $7.03B | 38% | $15.86B | 46%+8 | 9.5% |
Traditional methods lead because they are embedded in decades-old inspection codes and technician certification programs that asset owners already rely on. Advanced methods grow fastest as automated and robotic inspection systems mature enough to meet the same code requirements while cutting labor time, making them increasingly attractive for high-volume or hard-to-access inspection points. Traditional Non-Destructive Testing Services remains the largest line through 2034, so the axis changes in proportion, not in order.

| Visual Inspection | $2.78B | 15% | $4.83B | 14%-1 | 6.3% |
Ultrasonic testing leads because it works across the widest range of material thicknesses and geometries and is accepted under nearly every relevant inspection code. Eddy-current testing grows fastest because it suits automated, inline inspection on production lines in aerospace and battery manufacturing, where speed and repeatability matter more than the deeper material penetration other methods offer. The order does not change: Ultrasonic is still largest in 2034, and what moves is how much it holds. Every year of the series is priced on this axis, making it the reference cut for the rest of the report.

Flaw detection leads because it addresses the core safety mandate behind most inspection programs: finding cracks, voids and inclusions before they cause failure. Stress and structure analysis grows fastest as structural health monitoring programs extend beyond one-time inspection into ongoing condition assessment, pulling this application into more contracts than it has historically covered. The order does not change: Flaw detection is still largest in 2034, and what moves is how much it holds.

Oil & Gas Led by Market size, by end use industry in 2025, with Infrastructure & Construction Growing Fastest Oil and gas leads because pipeline, refinery and storage integrity mandates require some of the most frequent and extensive inspection cycles of any industry. Infrastructure and construction grows fastest as aging bridges, rail and utility assets reach scheduled inspection intervals at the same time that new-build codes extend inspection requirements to a wider range of structures. Oil & Gas remains the largest line through 2034, so the axis changes in proportion, not in order.

Third-party services lead because accreditation costs and specialized equipment investment make outsourcing more economical than maintaining an in-house program for most asset owners. The same logic drives its faster growth, as more owners shift existing in-house inspection capacity to certified external providers rather than renewing internal certification and equipment programs. By 2034 Third-Party (Outsourced) Services is still ahead, making this a shift in weight, not a change of leader.

The largest single market in North America is the United States, at USD 4.62 billion in 2025 and USD 7.53 billion in 2034. Because it is 78.04% of the region in the base year, North America's totals move with this one country instead of a spread of them. The region itself runs USD 5.92 billion to USD 9.65 billion over the same period, and this is the market carrying the country-level detail in the full report.
Demand in the United States follows the market size, by product mix reported at global level: Ultrasonic is the largest line at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, moving to 31% by 2034, while Eddy-Current grows fastest at 10.24% and takes its share from 9.99% to 12.99%. Its 78.04% weight in North America means those movements carry straight into the regional totals. Per-market size, by product revenue for the United States appears on its own in the full report.
No single federal license governs a non-destructive testing services provider as such. Personnel who perform radiographic, ultrasonic, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant testing are typically certified by their employer under a written practice that follows the American Society for Nondestructive Testing's recommended guidance, and inspection work tied to pressure vessels, piping or welded structures must conform to the relevant American Society of Mechanical Engineers code or American Petroleum Institute inspection standard. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration oversees workplace exposure and radiation safety practices, while the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and state radiation control programs license and inspect the sealed sources used in industrial radiography. Aerospace inspection work falls additionally under Federal Aviation Administration oversight of approved repair stations.

- Revenue $1.42B → $2.32B
USD 1.42 billion of Europe's 2025 revenue is generated in Germany, the region's largest market, reaching USD 2.32 billion by 2034. Its 31.98% of base-year regional revenue leads the region, though enough sits elsewhere that Europe is not a proxy for it. Against regional totals of USD 4.44 billion in 2025 and USD 7.24 billion in 2034, it is the country the full report breaks out in detail.
Germany buys along the same lines as the market globally; Ultrasonic first at 29.98% of 2025 revenue and 31% in 2034, Eddy-Current fastest at 10.24% on a share moving from 9.99% to 12.99%. With 31.98% of Europe concentrated here, a change in this country's mix is visible in the regional figures instead of being diluted by its neighbours. Revenue by market size, by product for Germany is reported separately in the full report.
Non-destructive testing in Germany operates within the European Union's Pressure Equipment Directive and related harmonised standards, so inspection performed on pressure vessels, piping and welded pressure equipment must demonstrate conformity through a notified body before equipment can carry the CE mark. Personnel certification follows DIN EN ISO standards for qualification and certification of testing personnel, administered nationally through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für zerstörungsfreie Prüfung as the recognised certification body. Radiation sources used for radiographic testing are licensed and monitored under the federal radiation protection ordinance, with the Federal Office for Radiation Protection responsible for oversight of source handling, transport and disposal. A provider without current personnel certification and source licensing cannot legally offer radiographic services.
Competition in Germany runs between the suppliers this study tracks: MISTRAS Group Inc. (U.S.), Olympus Corporation (Japan), GE Inspection Technologies (U.S.), Intertek Group PLC (U.K.), SGS S.A. (Switzerland), Nikon Metrology Inc. (U.S.), Ashtead Technology Inc. (U.S.), Sonatest Ltd. (U.K), Bosello, High Technology S.R.L. (Italy) and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation (Japan). Volume sits in Ultrasonic at 29.98% of 2025 revenue; movement sits in Eddy-Current at 10.24% growth. The commercial size of that position is USD 4.44 billion in 2025 and USD 7.24 billion by 2034, 24% of the global total in the base year.

Asia Pacific Market Analysis
The 2nd-largest region covered, and the one gaining the most — it picks up 6 points of share by 2034, while revenue still grows 2.2×.
- Rank 2 of 5
- 2025 share 30%
- By 2034 36%
- Revenue $5.55B → $12.41B
Asia Pacific holds 30% of the global non destructive testing services market in 2025, worth USD 5.55 billion with USD 12.41 billion projected for 2034. Among the five regions it ranks second by revenue in both years.
Its share rises to 36% over the forecast period, at a pace above the 7.12% global rate, so this region warrants separate treatment and should not be scaled off the total.
The market size, by product mix reported at global level applies here, with Ultrasonic the largest line at 29.98% of 2025 revenue and Eddy-Current the fastest-growing at 10.24%. Asia Pacific is reported axis by axis and country by country in the full study.
China
The largest market in Asia Pacific, growing 2.1×.
- In region 1 of 3
- Of region 40%
- Of global 12%
- Revenue $2.22B → $4.72B
40% of Asia Pacific's base-year revenue comes from China; USD 2.22 billion, rising to USD 4.72 billion by 2034. At 40% of the region in 2025 it leads, but a majority of Asia Pacific's revenue is generated in other markets. The region itself runs USD 5.55 billion to USD 12.41 billion over the same period, and this is the market carrying the country-level detail in the full report.
China buys along the same lines as the market globally; Ultrasonic first at 29.98% of 2025 revenue and 31% in 2034, Eddy-Current fastest at 10.24% on a share moving from 9.99% to 12.99%. Since 40% of Asia Pacific's revenue is generated here, the regional numbers inherit this market's mix instead of smoothing it out. The full report reports China by market size, by product separately.
Non-destructive testing tied to boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines and other special equipment falls under China's Special Equipment Safety Law, administered by the State Administration for Market Regulation, which requires inspection bodies and personnel to hold recognised qualification before performing statutory inspection. Personnel certification follows the national scheme for non-destructive testing qualification, benchmarked against international personnel certification standards. Radioactive sources used in industrial radiography are separately licensed and controlled by the National Nuclear Safety Administration, which sets requirements for source security, transport and disposal. A testing provider serving regulated industries such as energy, petrochemicals or shipbuilding must therefore hold both an equipment inspection qualification and, where radiographic methods are used, a radiation safety permit.
The suppliers tracked in this study (MISTRAS Group Inc. (U.S.), Olympus Corporation (Japan), GE Inspection Technologies (U.S.), Intertek Group PLC (U.K.), SGS S.A. (Switzerland), Nikon Metrology Inc. (U.S.), Ashtead Technology Inc. (U.S.), Sonatest Ltd. (U.K), Bosello, High Technology S.R.L. (Italy) and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation (Japan)) compete in China across the market size, by product lines above. Ultrasonic, at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, is where the volume sits, and Eddy-Current, growing at 10.24%, is where position changes hands over the forecast period. That makes Asia Pacific a 30% share of 2025 global revenue, USD 5.55 billion rising to USD 12.41 billion, for any supplier deciding where to concentrate.
Japan
2nd-largest in Asia Pacific, growing 2.0×.
- In region 2 of 3
- Of region 22%
- Of global 6.6%
- Revenue $1.22B → $2.48B
Japan is sized at USD 1.22 billion in 2025, rising to USD 2.48 billion by 2034; 6.59% of global revenue and 21.98% of Asia Pacific. It is reported separately from China across every segmentation axis in the full report.
India
3rd-largest in Asia Pacific, growing 2.7×.
- In region 3 of 3
- Of region 16%
- Of global 4.8%
- Revenue $0.89B → $2.36B
Within Asia Pacific, India accounts for 16.04% of regional revenue and 4.81% of the global total, worth USD 0.89 billion in 2025 and USD 2.36 billion by 2034.
Latin America Market Analysis
The 4th-largest region covered — it picks up 1 point of share by 2034, while revenue still grows 2.1×.
- Rank 4 of 5
- 2025 share 8%
- By 2034 9%
- Revenue $1.48B → $3.10B
USD 1.48 billion of 2025 revenue is generated in Latin America, 8% of the global non destructive testing services market with USD 3.1 billion projected for 2034. It is a marginal region on this axis, fourth by revenue throughout the period.
By 2034 the share has moved up to 9%, on growth above the market's own 7.12%, and with a bigger contribution to the revenue added over the period than the base-year figure suggests.
Segment composition follows the global pattern: Ultrasonic largest at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, Eddy-Current fastest at 10.24%. The full report breaks Latin America out along every axis and by country.
Brazil
The largest market in Latin America, growing 2.1×.
- In region 1 of 2
- Of region 45.3%
- Of global 3.6%
- Revenue $0.67B → $1.40B
45.27% of Latin America's base-year revenue comes from Brazil; USD 0.67 billion, rising to USD 1.4 billion by 2034. It accounts for 45.27% of regional revenue in the base year, the largest single share without dominating the region outright. Against regional totals of USD 1.48 billion in 2025 and USD 3.1 billion in 2034, it is the country the full report breaks out in detail.
Demand in Brazil follows the market size, by product mix reported at global level: Ultrasonic is the largest line at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, moving to 31% by 2034, while Eddy-Current grows fastest at 10.24% and takes its share from 9.99% to 12.99%. Because the country carries 45.27% of Latin America, a movement in its own mix shows up in the regional totals instead of being averaged away by neighbouring markets. The full report reports Brazil by market size, by product separately.
Pressure vessels and boilers inspected in Brazil fall under the regulatory standard issued by the Ministry of Labour, commonly known by its NR designation, which sets the inspection intervals and testing methods an operator must follow and effectively defines the scope of work a non-destructive testing provider is engaged to perform. Personnel certification is coordinated through the Brazilian Association for Non-Destructive Testing and Inspection, aligned with international personnel qualification standards. Radioactive sources used for radiographic testing are licensed and inspected by the National Nuclear Energy Commission, which governs source possession, transport and safe handling. A provider working across the oil and gas, industrial and infrastructure sectors must satisfy both the labour ministry's equipment rules and the nuclear commission's source licensing regime.
Competition in Brazil runs between the suppliers this study tracks: MISTRAS Group Inc. (U.S.), Olympus Corporation (Japan), GE Inspection Technologies (U.S.), Intertek Group PLC (U.K.), SGS S.A. (Switzerland), Nikon Metrology Inc. (U.S.), Ashtead Technology Inc. (U.S.), Sonatest Ltd. (U.K), Bosello, High Technology S.R.L. (Italy) and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation (Japan). Two different problems sit on the same axis: holding Ultrasonic at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, and taking Eddy-Current while it grows at 10.24%. A supplier weighted toward Latin America is competing over a base of USD 1.48 billion in 2025 reaching USD 3.1 billion by 2034, 8% of global revenue at the start of that period.
Mexico
2nd-largest in Latin America, growing 2.1×.
- In region 2 of 2
- Of region 25%
- Of global 2%
- Revenue $0.37B → $0.78B
Mexico is sized at USD 0.37 billion in 2025, rising to USD 0.78 billion by 2034; 2% of global revenue and 25% of Latin America. It is reported separately from Brazil across every segmentation axis in the full report.
Middle East and Africa Market Analysis
The 5th-largest region covered, holding its share flat through 2034, while revenue still grows 1.9×.
- Rank 5 of 5
- 2025 share 6%
- By 2034 6%
- Revenue $1.11B → $2.07B
USD 1.11 billion of 2025 revenue is generated in Middle East and Africa, 6% of the global non destructive testing services market and reaches USD 2.07 billion by 2034. It is a marginal region on this axis, fifth by revenue throughout the period.
Share settles at 6% in 2034, while nothing contracts here; other regions simply grow faster, which shows up as relative weight, not as falling revenue.
Ultrasonic leads here as it does globally, at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, and Eddy-Current again grows fastest at 10.24%. Middle East and Africa is reported axis by axis and country by country in the full study.
Saudi Arabia
The largest market in Middle East and Africa, growing 1.8×.
- In region 1 of 2
- Of region 35.1%
- Of global 2.1%
- Revenue $0.39B → $0.72B
Saudi Arabia is the largest market within Middle East and Africa, generating USD 0.39 billion in 2025 and projected to reach USD 0.72 billion by 2034. It accounts for 35.14% of regional revenue in the base year, the largest single share without dominating the region outright. Set against USD 1.11 billion and USD 2.07 billion for the region, it is why this market, and not a smaller one, is the one reported in full.
Composition here matches the global split: the largest line is Ultrasonic at 29.98% of 2025 revenue, easing to 31% by 2034, and the fastest is Eddy-Current at 10.24%, from 9.99% to 12.99%. Since 35.14% of Middle East and Africa's revenue is generated here, the regional numbers inherit this market's mix instead of smoothing it out. Revenue by market size, by product for Saudi Arabia is reported separately in the full report.
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization sets the conformity framework non-destructive testing providers must work within, requiring inspection and testing personnel to hold certification benchmarked against recognised international personnel qualification standards. Work performed on pressure equipment and welded structures in the oil, gas and petrochemical sector is generally carried out to the engineering and inspection standards set by the major operators in that sector, alongside applicable Saudi conformity requirements. Radioactive sources used for radiographic testing are licensed and controlled by the national authority responsible for atomic and radiation regulation, which governs source procurement, transport, security and disposal. A provider must hold current personnel certification and, where radiographic methods are used, valid source licensing before undertaking regulated inspection work.
The suppliers tracked in this study (MISTRAS Group Inc. (U.S.), Olympus Corporation (Japan), GE Inspection Technologies (U.S.), Intertek Group PLC (U.K.), SGS S.A. (Switzerland), Nikon Metrology Inc. (U.S.), Ashtead Technology Inc. (U.S.), Sonatest Ltd. (U.K), Bosello, High Technology S.R.L. (Italy) and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation (Japan)) compete in Saudi Arabia across the market size, by product lines above. The commercially relevant division is 29.98% of 2025 revenue in Ultrasonic, where the volume is, against 10.24% growth in Eddy-Current, where share moves. The commercial size of that position is USD 1.11 billion in 2025 and USD 2.07 billion by 2034, 6% of the global total in the base year.
United Arab Emirates
2nd-largest in Middle East and Africa, growing 1.9×.
- In region 2 of 2
- Of region 21.6%
- Of global 1.3%
- Revenue $0.24B → $0.46B
1.3% of global revenue is generated in the United Arab Emirates; USD 0.24 billion in 2025, reaching USD 0.46 billion in 2034, and 21.62% of Middle East and Africa.

Competitive Landscape
Suppliers Compete on Ultrasonic Volume and Eddy-Current Momentum
Suppliers in scope: MISTRAS Group Inc. (U.S.), Olympus Corporation (Japan), GE Inspection Technologies (U.S.), Intertek Group PLC (U.K.), SGS S.A. (Switzerland), Nikon Metrology Inc. (U.S.), Ashtead Technology Inc. (U.S.), Sonatest Ltd. (U.K), Bosello, High Technology S.R.L. (Italy) and Fujifilm Holdings Corporation (Japan).
Where suppliers actually compete is along the market size, by product axis. 29.98% of 2025 revenue, worth USD 5.55 billion, is in Ultrasonic, still 31% of the total in 2034; that is the position least likely to change hands. The line that changes hands is Eddy-Current at 10.24%, well ahead of Radiography at 5.87%. Holding the first and taking the second are separate capabilities, which is why a market of USD 18.5 billion supports as many suppliers as it does.
Suppliers in this market compete primarily on accreditation breadth (ISO 9712, ASNT and API certification programs), the range of inspection methods they can field in-house, and the size and calibration standard of their technician base. Large multi-discipline providers hold an advantage in global service network reach and long-term framework contracts with major asset owners, letting them bundle several inspection disciplines into a single mobilization. Smaller and regional providers compete on faster response times, specialized method expertise in niche applications, and established local relationships with plant operators, often serving as subcontractors to the larger firms on overflow work.
The regional picture sets the entry cost: 32% of revenue is in North America and 30% in Asia Pacific, so a credible global position requires both, while Middle East and Africa at 6% can be served opportunistically.

Research approach
A market size is a claim about the world, and a claim is only as good as the route to it. Every study is built upward from units and prices — what is actually produced, sold or performed, at what it actually changes hands for — rather than from a headline figure divided downwards. Disclosed company revenue is then used to check that build, not to produce it.
The four stages
The same sequence runs behind every published study, whatever the industry. The order matters as much as the steps: the segment axes are fixed before any number is collected, so the model is never reshaped to fit whatever data happens to turn up.
What the build rests on, and what checks it
The two are not interchangeable. The left column produces the number; the right column tests it. When the check disagrees with the build, the answer is to find which bottom-up assumption is wrong — a unit count, a price, a take-up rate — not to split the difference between them.
- Volume actually transacted — units produced, installed, dispensed or procedures performed, counted at the level each is genuinely recorded
- Realised pricing by tier and channel, rather than one blended average applied across the whole market
- Take-up and frequency: how much of the addressable base buys, and how often it repeats
- Disclosed revenue of the companies serving the market, where filings separate it far enough to be usable
- Buyer-side spending totals — capital budgets, procurement lines, or the output of the end market the product is bought against
- Trade and customs flows, where the product crosses borders in a separately recorded form
Data sources
Published data establishes what happened. Only the people transacting in a market can say why, and what is about to change — so the two are collected separately and weighted differently.
- Commercial and product leadership at the companies that supply the market
- Procurement and specification leads at the organisations that buy it
- Distributors, integrators and channel partners, where the market is served indirectly
- Regulatory and standards specialists, where approval governs what can be sold at all
- Company filings, annual reports and investor disclosure
- Government statistics, customs records and regulatory registers
- Trade association output and standards-body publications
- Technical and peer-reviewed literature, where the market rests on a clinical or engineering claim
Primary interviews targeted procurement and quality assurance managers at asset owners in oil and gas, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing, the roles that set inspection budgets and select service providers, alongside commercial and operations leads at third-party inspection firms and regulatory or certification body representatives who confirm code-driven inspection frequency. Sampling weighted North America and Europe, where accredited inspection programs are longest established and disclosure is most complete, with additional coverage in China, India and the Gulf states to capture the faster-growing outsourced-services demand in those markets. Channel partners and equipment distributors were consulted where they also broker service contracts.
Desk research drew on ASNT personnel certification statistics, ISO 9712 and EN 4179 certification body registers, and API 510/570/653 inspection code documentation that governs mandated inspection frequency in oil and gas. Trade data referenced HS code 9031 customs filings for cross-border inspection equipment flows, and public company filings from listed inspection service providers including SGS, Bureau Veritas and Intertek supplied the segment revenue disclosures used in the top-down check. Industry body publications from the European Federation for Non-Destructive Testing and national welding institutes supplemented method-adoption evidence.
Desk research runs across proprietary research databases including Factiva, OneSource and Hoovers alongside the public sources above. Modelling and statistical validation are run in SAS and SPSS.
Forecasting
The forecast is not a growth rate applied to a base year. It is built from the drivers that are expected to change, each one stated so a reader can disagree with it.
The forecast is built from projected growth in mandated inspection volume: aging pipeline, power plant and bridge infrastructure reaching scheduled inspection intervals, aerospace production rates, and the pace at which automated and robotic inspection lowers the cost per inspection and expands addressable volume. Regulatory tightening in emerging Asia Pacific and Gulf markets is treated as a step change in inspection frequency, phased in over the early forecast years rather than assumed as a steady trend. Outsourcing share is assumed to keep rising as asset owners continue shifting inspection from in-house teams to accredited third-party providers. The forecast holds if inspection code enforcement continues at its current pace and does not loosen.
Triangulation and validation
No figure enters a report on the strength of one source. Where the two sizing routes disagree the difference is not averaged away — the assumption causing it is isolated, tested against a third independent measure, and either corrected or carried forward as a stated limitation. Historical years are back-tested against the growth actually recorded before any forecast is allowed to run forward from them.
Historical 2020-2024 growth was back-tested against recorded industrial production and capital expenditure indices in oil and gas, aerospace and power generation to confirm the implied inspection-volume trend was directionally consistent with known activity levels in those years. Segment-level shifts, including the move toward eddy-current and automated methods, were reviewed against equipment order data and provider service-line disclosures. Sensitivities were run on the outsourcing-share assumption and on regulatory-tightening timing in Asia Pacific, since both carry the largest effect on the later forecast years. Regional splits were cross-checked against the geographic distribution of major providers' reported service revenue.
Confidence and limitations
Where an estimate is firm and where it is not is stated rather than left to be inferred from the precision of the number.
Confidence is firmest for the oil and gas, aerospace and power generation end uses and for the ultrasonic and radiographic method segments, where provider revenue disclosure and inspection code documentation are both detailed. It is thinner for the in-house versus third-party service split in emerging Asia Pacific and Middle East markets, where captive inspection activity is rarely reported separately from broader maintenance spending. A structural risk to the forecast is a slowdown in new industrial capital expenditure, which would delay the infrastructure base reaching its next scheduled inspection interval and push volume growth later than modeled.
