Market Analysis & Outlook
Mangosteen extract is a plant-derived ingredient obtained from the rind of the mangosteen fruit, valued for its concentrated xanthone and antioxidant content, and supplied as a powder or liquid concentrate. Buyers are formulators of cosmetics, functional foods and beverages, and dietary supplements, along with smaller volumes going to pharmaceutical and nutraceutical researchers. Purchasers range from large personal care and food manufacturers sourcing standardized bulk material to smaller supplement brands buying through ingredient distributors and online marketplaces.
Between 2025 and 2034 the global mangosteen extract market moves from USD 395 million to USD 740 million, compounding at 7.08% a year. Fifteen years are covered in all, taking in USD 245 million in 2020, USD 351 million in 2024, USD 428 million in 2026 and USD 568 million in 2030.
On the type axis, growth rates run from 4.78% for Synthetic up to 7.78% for Organic. Organic carries the volume: USD 294.28 million and 74.5% of revenue in 2025, USD 584.6 million and 79% in 2034. Organic take share over the period; Synthetic give it up while still growing in absolute terms.
The application split puts Cosmetic Industry first, at USD 158 million and 40% of revenue in 2025, rising to USD 281.2 million and 38% in 2034. Pharmaceutical grows faster at 9.01% against 6.61%, moving from 25% of revenue to 29% by 2034. It cuts the same total as the type axis from a different commercial angle, so revenue does not add across the two.
The regional order runs from Asia Pacific at 42% of 2025 revenue down to Middle East and Africa at 6%. Asia Pacific is worth USD 165.9 million in 2025 and USD 325.6 million in 2034; North America, second at 24%, moves from USD 94.8 million to USD 162.8 million. Because Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East and Africa take share, the revenue added by 2034 concentrates instead of spreading across all five regions.
The 2025 total is a triangulation of published figures and category proxies, short of a directly sourced total. Segment, regional and country splits are estimated on the same basis, which bounds the precision of the figures above. Coverage runs to five regions, two type lines and five segmentation axes across a fifteen-year window.

Key Takeaways
- A forecast-period rate of 7.08% takes the market from USD 395 million in 2025 to USD 740 million in 2034, against 10.02% recorded over the 2020-2025 historical period.
- 74.5% of 2025 revenue sits in Organic (USD 294.28 million) and it remains the largest type line in 2034 at USD 584.6 million and 79%.
- Scenario range for 2034 runs from USD 690 million in the bear case to USD 808 million in the bull case, against a base-case USD 740 million, the spread a plan built on this forecast has to absorb.
- The largest region is Asia Pacific, generating USD 165.9 million in 2025 (42% of the global total) and USD 325.6 million by 2034, ahead of North America at 24%.
- 35% of Asia Pacific's base-year revenue comes from China alone: USD 58.07 million in 2025, rising to USD 117.22 million by 2034, which is why it is that region's worked example.
- Every line on all five segmentation axes and in each of the five regions carries its own revenue, share and growth rate for all fifteen years, 2020 through 2034, on a 2025 base.
Market Trends
Revenue Share, By By Type
Base year 2025Organic leads with 74.5% of by type segment revenue.
Share of by type segment revenue, most recent base year.
Three movements define the forecast period in the global mangosteen extract market: how the type mix changes, where regional weight shifts, and the rate at which the total compounds.
The direction of the market is not in question in any of the three. Each line and each region grows in revenue terms; what separates them is which takes the larger part of the growth.
The type mix tilts toward Organic. Between 2026 and 2034, 7.78% growth in Organic against 4.78% in Synthetic pulls the type mix apart. Shares follow: 74.5% to 79% for Organic, 25.5% to 21% for Synthetic. The revenue figures behind that are USD 294.28 million to USD 584.6 million and USD 100.73 million to USD 155.4 million. Both expand; where a supplier sits on the axis still decides whether it tracks the market.
Asia Pacific, Latin America and Middle East and Africa gain regional share. Asia Pacific moves from 42% of revenue in 2025 to 44% in 2034, worth USD 165.9 million rising to USD 325.6 million; Latin America moves from 8% of revenue in 2025 to 8.5% in 2034, worth USD 31.6 million rising to USD 62.9 million; Middle East and Africa moves from 6% of revenue in 2025 to 6.5% in 2034, worth USD 23.7 million rising to USD 48.1 million. The remaining regions grow in absolute terms while giving up share: North America at 24% moving to 22%, Europe at 20% moving to 19%. That makes the regional split worth reading directly instead of scaling from the global rate: the same market rate produces different outcomes depending on where a supplier's revenue sits.
Fifteen years without a discontinuity. Year by year the total runs USD 245 million in 2020, USD 351 million in 2024, USD 395 million in 2025, USD 428 million in 2026, USD 568 million in 2030 and USD 740 million in 2034. There is no discontinuity to time, and 7.08% forecast growth against 10.02% historical means the trend continues and does not turn. For a participant that makes planning a question of capturing a share of steady expansion instead of timing a discontinuity, and it is why the type and regional mixes matter more to a forecast than the headline rate does.
Market Growth Factors
Organic carries the market's growth rate
Market Drivers
3- 01Organic carries the market's growth rate
7.78% growth in Organic, against 7.08% for the market as a whole, moves it from USD 294.28 million and 74.5% of revenue in 2025 to USD 584.6 million and 79% in 2034. Because the spread to Synthetic at 4.78% is this wide, the headline 7.08% is a weighted result, not a rate any single line achieves. A portfolio weighted away from it tracks below the market even in a market growing everywhere.
- 02Growth lands where the revenue already is
The largest regional base is Asia Pacific: USD 165.9 million in 2025 at 42% of the global total, USD 325.6 million by 2034 and 44%. Behind it, North America holds 24%; USD 94.8 million rising to USD 162.8 million. Most of the base and most of the growth sit in those two, and a plan spread evenly across regions therefore over-invests outside them.
- 03Fifteen years of unbroken growth underpin the forecast
The historical period compounded at 10.02%; USD 245 million in 2020, USD 351 million in 2024 and USD 395 million in 2025. The forecast period then runs at 7.08%, ending 2034 at USD 740 million. A forecast extending an observed trend is a different proposition from one proposing a turn, and that is why no ramp is applied: the 7.08% runs evenly across the period.

| # | Restraint | Impact | Estimated reduction (Million) | 2026-28 | 2029-31 | 2032-34 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Supply constraints tied to seasonal mangosteen fruit harvests | Medium-High | −20 | High | Medium | Medium |

Drivers contribute 390 Million and restraints remove 45 Million, a net 345 Million, which is the revenue the market adds between the base year and 2034. Contributions are CDI estimates, apportioned so that they reconcile with the forecast rather than being read from it.
The 7.08% forecast rate rests on three things that can be measured separately: the size of the existing base, the mix shift on the type axis, and where regional growth is concentrated.
Restraining Factors
The bear case and what drives it
Market Restraints
2- 01The bear case and what drives it
Where the forecast could miss: the bear case assumes tighter raw material availability from concentrated Southeast Asian sourcing and slower adoption in cost-sensitive food and beverage applications, holding back volume growth. That path reaches USD 690 million by 2034 instead of USD 740 million, off an unchanged USD 395 million in 2025.
- 02The largest line is not the fastest
With 25.5% of 2025 revenue (USD 100.73 million) Synthetic is where most of the market sits, and it grows at only 4.78% against the market's 7.08%. Revenue still reaches USD 155.4 million by 2034 and share still falls to 21%: a drag on the average, not a decline.
Market Opportunities
What the bull case turns on
Market Opportunities
2- 01What the bull case turns on
The bull case assumes faster adoption of mangosteen-derived xanthones in premium cosmetic and nutraceutical formulations, supported by steady raw material supply from expanding Southeast Asian cultivation. On that assumption the market reaches USD 808 million by 2034 against USD 740 million in the base case, from the same USD 395 million in 2025.
- 02Organic is where share changes hands
Share on the type axis moves toward Organic, from 74.5% in 2025 to 79% in 2034, on 7.78% growth against the market's 7.08% and revenue rising from USD 294.28 million to USD 584.6 million. Taking position there does not require displacing whoever holds Organic, which is the harder and more expensive fight.
Market Challenges
Revenue is concentrated in Organic
Market Challenges
2- 01Revenue is concentrated in Organic
Organic is 74.5% of 2025 revenue at USD 294.28 million and still 79% at USD 584.6 million in 2034. That concentration means the market's own forecast is, to a large extent, a forecast for one type line.
- 02Asia Pacific is largely China
35% of the leading region is one country: China, at USD 58.07 million against Asia Pacific's USD 165.9 million in 2025, and USD 117.22 million by 2034. The consequence is that regional risk here is really country risk wearing a larger label.
Segmentation Analysis
5 axesThe global mangosteen extract market is cut five ways: by type, application, form, extraction method and distribution channel. They are alternative readings of one revenue pool, not parts that sum to it.
All two type lines expand in revenue terms over the forecast period. Share is the dividing line; one takes it, the other cedes it.

Organic Both Leads the Type Axis and Grows Fastest on It
- Largest Organic · 74.5%

| Segment | 2025 | Share | 2034 | Share | CAGR |

| Synthetic | $101M | 25.5% | $155M | 21%-4.5 | 4.8% |
Organic leads because formulators favor naturally sourced xanthone content for clean-label cosmetic and food claims, and buyers increasingly avoid synthetic analogues over purity concerns. Synthetic variants grow slower since replicating the fruit's compound profile remains costly and harder to market as natural, even though it offers steadier supply. By 2034 Organic is still ahead, making this a shift in weight, not a change of leader. This is the axis the estimation prices in full, year by year, and the one the regional chapters cut against.

Scale in Cosmetic Industry and Growth in Pharmaceutical Define the Application Axis

| Cosmetic Industry | $158M | 40% | $281M | 38%-2 | 6.6% |
Cosmetic Industry leads because antioxidant xanthones fit widely marketed anti-aging and skin-brightening formulations, giving processors a ready commercial outlet. Pharmaceutical applications grow fastest as research into anti-inflammatory and metabolic benefits extends the ingredient beyond topical use, drawing supplement and clinical formulators. Food applications grow more slowly, limited by flavor-masking challenges. The order does not change: Cosmetic Industry is still largest in 2034, and what moves is how much it holds.

| Liquid | $138M | 35% | $281M | 38%+3 | 8.2% |
Powder leads because it offers longer shelf stability and is easier to standardize into cosmetic, food, and capsule formulations across manufacturing lines. Liquid extract grows fastest as ready-to-drink functional beverages and liquid supplement formats expand, favoring buyers who want direct incorporation without additional processing steps. By 2034 Powder is still ahead, making this a shift in weight, not a change of leader.

| Supercritical CO2 Extraction | $126M | 32% | $296M | 40%+8 | 9.9% |
Solvent Extraction leads because it is the lower-cost, widely established method most ingredient processors already run at scale. Supercritical CO2 Extraction grows fastest as cosmetic and pharmaceutical buyers pay a premium for a residue-free, higher-purity extract suited to clean-label and clinical-grade positioning, even though its equipment and process costs stay higher. Solvent Extraction remains the largest line through 2034, so the axis changes in proportion, not in order.

| Retail & Online | $71.10M | 18% | $170M | 23%+5 | 10.2% |
Direct and B2B channels lead because most extract volume moves under long-term supply contracts between processors and formulators who need consistent, qualified material. Retail and online channels grow fastest as smaller supplement and cosmetic brands source through digital ingredient marketplaces, a route that lowers the entry barrier for buyers without established procurement relationships. Direct/B2B remains the largest line through 2034, so the axis changes in proportion, not in order.

The largest single market in Asia Pacific is China, at USD 58.07 million in 2025 and USD 117.22 million in 2034. Its 35% of base-year regional revenue leads the region, though enough sits elsewhere that Asia Pacific is not a proxy for it. Regional revenue of USD 165.9 million in 2025 and USD 325.6 million in 2034 sits around it, and it is the country used wherever the full report cuts a figure by geography.
Demand in China follows the type mix reported at global level: Organic is the largest line at 74.5% of 2025 revenue, moving to 79% by 2034, while Organic grows fastest at 7.78% and takes its share from 74.5% to 79%. Its 35% weight in Asia Pacific means those movements carry straight into the regional totals. Per-type revenue for China appears on its own in the full report.
Mangosteen extract sold as a food ingredient or dietary supplement in China falls under the State Administration for Market Regulation, which oversees food safety standards and health food registration. A product marketed with specific health claims must go through the health food (baojianpin) registration or notification pathway administered under the State Administration for Market Regulation, requiring safety and efficacy documentation before sale. Ingredients without prior use history in China may also need novel food approval from the National Health Commission. Labelling must comply with national food safety standards covering ingredient disclosure, nutrition information, and any permitted function claims, and importers must ensure batches clear customs inspection against these same standards. Extracts marketed as general food ingredients rather than supplements face a lighter compliance burden but still answer to the same food safety authority.

Mangosteen extract sold in the United States is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, primarily as a dietary supplement ingredient under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act. Suppliers are responsible for ensuring the ingredient is safe and truthfully labelled before it reaches the market, since supplements do not require pre-market approval the way drugs do. Manufacturers must follow current Good Manufacturing Practice regulations covering identity, purity, and composition testing, and any health claim on the label must be substantiated and cannot state that the product diagnoses, treats, or cures a disease. If the extract has not previously been marketed in the United States, it may also need to be reported as a New Dietary Ingredient. The Federal Trade Commission separately polices marketing claims for accuracy.
In the United States the field is Premier Specialties Inc., Carrubba Inc., Dermalab, Natural Remedies Private Limited, Shenzhen Sendi Biotechnology Co.Ltd., Wuhan Fortuna Chemical Co. Demand in Germany follows the type mix reported at global level: Organic is the largest line at 74.5% of 2025 revenue, moving to 79% by 2034, while Organic grows fastest at 7.78% and takes its share from 74.5% to 79%. Its 30% weight in Europe means those movements carry straight into the regional totals. Germany carries its own type breakdown in the full report.
In Germany, mangosteen extract is governed by European Union food law alongside national enforcement bodies, chiefly the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety. Because mangosteen has limited history of consumption in the European Union prior to its common cutoff date, extracts prepared in certain concentrated forms may fall under the Novel Food Regulation, requiring authorisation before sale unless an existing approved use can be demonstrated. Products marketed as food supplements must additionally meet the EU Food Supplements Directive, covering composition and labelling requirements, while any stated health benefit must be pre-approved under the Health Claims Regulation. General food labelling rules require clear listing of ingredients, allergens, and supplement-specific warnings. Enforcement runs through German food safety authorities working within the broader EU framework.

By 2034 the share has moved up to 8.5%, so the region grows faster than the market's 7.08% and takes a larger part of the revenue added by 2034 than its 2025 weight implies.
Organic leads here as it does globally, at 74.5% of 2025 revenue, and Organic again grows fastest at 7.78%. Revenue for Latin America is broken out by every segmentation axis and by country in the full report.
Brazil
The largest market in Latin America, growing 2.0×.
- In region 1 of 2
- Of region 50%
- Of global 4%
- Revenue $15.80M → $31.45M
Brazil is the largest market within Latin America, generating USD 15.8 million in 2025 and projected to reach USD 31.45 million by 2034. 50% of the region in the base year makes it the largest market here without making it the region. The region itself runs USD 31.6 million to USD 62.9 million over the same period, and this is the market carrying the country-level detail in the full report.
The type pattern in Brazil is the global one: 74.5% of 2025 revenue in Organic, 79% by 2034, against 7.78% growth in Organic taking it from 74.5% to 79%. Its 50% weight in Latin America means those movements carry straight into the regional totals. Revenue by type for Brazil is reported separately in the full report.
Mangosteen extract marketed in Brazil is regulated by the National Health Surveillance Agency, which classifies food ingredients and supplements and sets the conditions under which they may be sold. Depending on its intended use, the extract may be categorised as a food ingredient, a food supplement, or a functional food, each carrying its own registration or notification requirements before commercialisation. Suppliers must demonstrate that the ingredient meets established identity and quality parameters and that any functional or health claim aligns with what the agency permits for that category. Labelling must disclose composition, recommended use, and any cautionary statements in Portuguese, consistent with national food labelling rules. Importers bear responsibility for ensuring foreign-sourced extract complies with these same domestic standards before distribution.

Middle East and Africa Market Analysis
The 5th-largest region covered — it picks up 0.5 points of share by 2034, while revenue still grows 2.0×.
- Rank 5 of 5
- 2025 share 6%
- By 2034 6.5%
- Revenue $23.70M → $48.10M
USD 23.7 million of 2025 revenue is generated in Middle East and Africa, 6% of the global mangosteen extract market with USD 48.1 million projected for 2034. It is a marginal region on this axis, fifth by revenue throughout the period.
6.5% of global revenue sits here by 2034, up from the 2025 level, because it outgrows the market's 7.08%; the revenue added here is disproportionate to where the region started.
Segment composition follows the global pattern: Organic largest at 74.5% of 2025 revenue, Organic fastest at 7.78%. Middle East and Africa is reported axis by axis and country by country in the full study.
Saudi Arabia
The largest market in Middle East and Africa, growing 2.0×.
- In region 1 of 2
- Of region 35%
- Of global 2.1%
- Revenue $8.30M → $16.84M
The largest single market in Middle East and Africa is Saudi Arabia, at USD 8.3 million in 2025 and USD 16.84 million in 2034. It accounts for 35% of regional revenue in the base year, the largest single share without dominating the region outright. The region itself runs USD 23.7 million to USD 48.1 million over the same period, and this is the market carrying the country-level detail in the full report.
Composition here matches the global split: the largest line is Organic at 74.5% of 2025 revenue, easing to 79% by 2034, and the fastest is Organic at 7.78%, from 74.5% to 79%. Because the country carries 35% of Middle East and Africa, a movement in its own mix shows up in the regional totals instead of being averaged away by neighbouring markets. Saudi Arabia carries its own type breakdown in the full report.
In Saudi Arabia, mangosteen extract used in food or supplement products is regulated by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, which sets requirements for classification, registration, and labelling of imported and domestically produced ingredients. Supplement products generally require registration before they can be sold, with documentation confirming composition, safety, and manufacturing standards, while ingredients used purely as food additives are assessed against the authority's food safety requirements instead. Labelling must be presented in Arabic alongside any other language used, disclosing ingredients and directions for use, and health-related claims must be consistent with what the authority allows for that product category. Conformity with Gulf Cooperation Council technical standards, where applicable, is also expected of suppliers bringing the extract into the Saudi market.
In Saudi Arabia the field is Premier Specialties Inc., Carrubba Inc., Dermalab, Natural Remedies Private Limited, Shenzhen Sendi Biotechnology Co.Ltd., Wuhan Fortuna Chemical Co. Ltd., Changsha Staherb Natural Ingredients Co. Ltd., Wuhan Yuancheng Gongchuang Technology Co.Ltd., Shaanxi Kingsci Biotechnology Co. Ltd., Xi'an Changyue Phytochemistry Co. Ltd., Xi&rsquo, an DN Biology Co. Ltd., Andy Biotech (Xi&rsquo, an) Co. Ltd. and Guilin Layn Natural Ingredients Corp.and others.. Where suppliers actually compete is along the type axis. Organic is 74.5% of 2025 revenue at USD 294.28 million and still 79% in 2034, so it is where the volume sits and where an incumbent's position is hardest to move. Share moves in Organic, growing 7.78% against 4.78% for Synthetic. Those are different problems, and a supplier strong in one is not thereby strong in the other; that is what sustains a field this size in a USD 395 million market.
Competition in mangosteen extract centers on extraction and formulation capability rather than brand strength, since most volume moves as a business-to-business ingredient. Larger Chinese processors compete on manufacturing scale, consistent xanthone concentration, and the ability to supply solvent- and CO2-extracted grades side by side, letting them serve cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical buyers from one plant. Regional and smaller suppliers, including India-based and Western specialty houses, compete instead on customization, smaller minimum order quantities, and direct relationships with mid-sized formulators who value flexibility and faster turnaround over the lowest unit price.
Geographic reach is the other axis of competition. Asia Pacific alone accounts for 42% of 2025 revenue, so a supplier absent there is absent from the largest part of the market whatever its position elsewhere; North America adds a further 24%.

Research approach
A market size is a claim about the world, and a claim is only as good as the route to it. Every study is built upward from units and prices — what is actually produced, sold or performed, at what it actually changes hands for — rather than from a headline figure divided downwards. Disclosed company revenue is then used to check that build, not to produce it.
The estimate is built upward from mangosteen rind processing volumes across the principal Southeast Asian and Chinese supply base, combined with realized per-kilogram prices for standardized powder and liquid extract grades sold into cosmetic, food, and pharmaceutical formulation. Volumes are cut by extraction method, since solvent- and CO2-extracted material carry different yields and price points, and rolled up to a total supply figure. That bottom-up figure is then checked against disclosed ingredient revenue and cost-of-goods detail from the larger processors named in the competitive set. Where the two diverge, the volume or price assumption feeding the bottom-up build is revisited and corrected instead of blending the two figures together.
The four stages
The same sequence runs behind every published study, whatever the industry. The order matters as much as the steps: the segment axes are fixed before any number is collected, so the model is never reshaped to fit whatever data happens to turn up.
What the build rests on, and what checks it
The two are not interchangeable. The left column produces the number; the right column tests it. When the check disagrees with the build, the answer is to find which bottom-up assumption is wrong — a unit count, a price, a take-up rate — not to split the difference between them.
- Volume actually transacted — units produced, installed, dispensed or procedures performed, counted at the level each is genuinely recorded
- Realised pricing by tier and channel, rather than one blended average applied across the whole market
- Take-up and frequency: how much of the addressable base buys, and how often it repeats
- Disclosed revenue of the companies serving the market, where filings separate it far enough to be usable
- Buyer-side spending totals — capital budgets, procurement lines, or the output of the end market the product is bought against
- Trade and customs flows, where the product crosses borders in a separately recorded form
Data sources
Published data establishes what happened. Only the people transacting in a market can say why, and what is about to change — so the two are collected separately and weighted differently.
- Commercial and product leadership at the companies that supply the market
- Procurement and specification leads at the organisations that buy it
- Distributors, integrators and channel partners, where the market is served indirectly
- Regulatory and standards specialists, where approval governs what can be sold at all
- Company filings, annual reports and investor disclosure
- Government statistics, customs records and regulatory registers
- Trade association output and standards-body publications
- Technical and peer-reviewed literature, where the market rests on a clinical or engineering claim
Interview targets are sourced along the commercial chain that sets volume and price: procurement leads at cosmetic and food formulators, sourcing managers at ingredient distributors, and production or plant managers at the extract processors themselves, since they confirm realistic yield and capacity figures. Regulatory and quality-assurance contacts are included where a formulator's approval process affects which extract grade gets specified. Sampling weights Southeast Asia and China, where cultivation and processing are concentrated, alongside the United States, India, and Western Europe, where the largest formulation and end-use demand sits, so both sides of the same transaction are represented.
Desk research draws on customs trade data filed under the relevant HS code for dried and extracted plant material, which tracks cross-border shipment volumes of mangosteen-derived ingredients out of Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Cosmetic ingredient dossiers and INCI registrations are checked for confirmed inclusion of mangosteen extract in marketed formulations, and food-safety and novel-food filings are reviewed where they cover xanthone-based ingredients. Company-level filings and investor disclosures from the larger Chinese biotechnology processors benchmark realized pricing and capacity claims against the bottom-up build.
Desk research runs across proprietary research databases including Factiva, OneSource and Hoovers alongside the public sources above. Modelling and statistical validation are run in SAS and SPSS.
Forecasting
The forecast is not a growth rate applied to a base year. It is built from the drivers that are expected to change, each one stated so a reader can disagree with it.
The forecast is built from expected growth in cosmetic and functional-food formulation counts that specify mangosteen-derived xanthones, adjusted for the pace at which Supercritical CO2 extraction capacity expands relative to conventional solvent processing. Pricing is assumed steady in real terms for solvent-extracted material and expected to ease gradually for CO2-extracted material as more processors add that capacity. The approach normalizes for the uneven mangosteen harvest cycle, which can distort a single year's shipment volume, by smoothing supply-side inputs across a multi-year base instead of anchoring to any one harvest year. For the forecast to hold, cultivation area in the main producing countries needs to keep pace with formulation demand.
Triangulation and validation
No figure enters a report on the strength of one source. Where the two sizing routes disagree the difference is not averaged away — the assumption causing it is isolated, tested against a third independent measure, and either corrected or carried forward as a stated limitation. Historical years are back-tested against the growth actually recorded before any forecast is allowed to run forward from them.
Historical revenue was back-tested against recorded shipment volumes and average unit prices for 2020 through 2024 to confirm the bottom-up build reproduces observed trade flows and not just an assumed trend line. Segment shifts, particularly the move toward CO2-extracted and liquid-format material, were reviewed against formulation and product-launch patterns reported by cosmetic and supplement brands. Sensitivities were run on the extraction-method mix and on Southeast Asian harvest volume, since both are the inputs most likely to move the total if they land above or below the base assumption.
Confidence and limitations
Where an estimate is firm and where it is not is stated rather than left to be inferred from the precision of the number.
Confidence is strongest for the cosmetic and food application estimates, where formulation counts and trade shipment data give a reasonably direct read on volume. It is weaker for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical application figures, where adoption is still emerging and public reporting on ingredient-level use is thin. Structural risks include the concentration of raw material in a small number of producing countries, where a poor harvest or export policy change could shift supply and pricing faster than the forecast assumes. Outside the largest markets, the country-level detail is directional and should not be read as precise.
