Oilfield Equipment Market Size, Growth Rate and Forecast to 2034: Drivers, Risks and Regional Shares
Oilfield equipment revenue is forecast to reach USD 183 billion by 2034 at a 3.35% CAGR, with subsea equipment and North America setting the shape of the market.
The oilfield equipment market is a large base growing at a modest rate. Revenue stood at USD 136 billion in 2025, and the study carries it to USD 183 billion by 2034 at a CAGR of 3.35%. The forecast covers 2026 to 2034, with 2020 to 2024 as the historical period. The headline rate is an average. The mix underneath it decides how any one supplier fares, and that is where this analysis spends most of its time.
Market size and growth rate
Revenue was USD 104 billion in 2020 and USD 133 billion in 2024. It reached USD 136 billion in 2025, the base year. Across the historical period the market compounded at 5.51%. The forecast rate is 3.35%, taking the market to USD 183 billion in 2034.
The study holds that rate flat across the forecast period. It does not ramp the rate up or down year by year. The growth is already in the record and not only in the projection, so the open question is not whether the market grows. The risk in the number sits in the mix assumptions: which equipment types, which regions and which countries carry the rate.
What is driving it
One line on the equipment type axis carries the blended rate. Subsea Equipment grows at 6.09% against 3.35% for the market as a whole. It moves from USD 17.68 billion and 13% of revenue in 2025 to USD 30.2 billion and 16.5% in 2034. Nothing else on the axis grows as fast. Drilling Equipment manages 2.14%.
That spread has a practical reading. Position on the equipment type axis is a growth decision, not only a product one. A supplier weighted toward Subsea Equipment tracks above the market, and one weighted toward Drilling Equipment tracks below it.
Geography adds a second driver. North America is the largest regional base at USD 44.88 billion in 2025, 33% of the global total. It reaches USD 57.65 billion by 2034 and holds 31.5% of revenue. Asia Pacific holds 27%, rising from USD 36.72 billion to USD 53.99 billion. Both the existing revenue and the revenue added concentrate in these two regions, so regional weighting matters more to a forecast than the count of regions covered.
Subsea demand follows offshore project activity, and offshore activity in power generation is sized separately. The offshore wind market is forecast at USD 144.5 billion by 2034 with a CAGR of 11.97%, and Asia Pacific holds 47.5% of its revenue.
What could slow it
The study's downside path assumes crude prices weaken, operators defer deepwater awards and capital spending stays flat in real terms. Growth under that case falls to 1.8 percent a year. The market ends 2034 at USD 159.6 billion, against USD 183 billion in the base case, from the same USD 136 billion in 2025.
Two structural features sit beneath that scenario.
- **Drilling Equipment holds the blended rate down.** It carries 20% of 2025 revenue, USD 27.2 billion, and grows at 2.14% against the market's 3.35%. Revenue still reaches USD 32.94 billion by 2034, and share falls to 18%. This is a drag on the average, not a decline.
- **One country drives the leading region.** The United States generates USD 36.5 billion of North America's USD 44.88 billion in 2025, which is 81.33% of the region. It reaches USD 46.6 billion by 2034. North America looks diversified when read as a region. Read by weight it is not, and the regional forecast inherits whatever happens in that one market.
The total also leans on a single equipment type. A shift in demand for Drilling Equipment moves the total more than any other single change on the axis.
The upside case runs the other way. Crude prices stay high, offshore sanctioning runs ahead of plan and national oil companies raise drilling programmes. Growth lifts to 4.5 percent a year, and the market reaches USD 202 billion by 2034 against USD 183 billion in the base case.
Where the growth sits
By region, the 2034 shares in the study are:
- North America: 33%
- Asia Pacific: 27%
- Middle East and Africa: 17.5%
- Europe: 14%
- Latin America: 8.5%
By equipment type, the 2025 shares are Drilling Equipment at 20%, Production Equipment at 17%, Well Completion Equipment at 14%, Subsea Equipment at 13%, Hydraulic Fracturing Equipment at 10%, Tubulars and Casing at 10%, Wellhead and Pressure Control Equipment at 9% and Well Intervention Equipment at 7%.
Drilling Equipment is the largest line and Subsea Equipment is the fastest. Subsea Equipment is also the place on this axis where share changes hands at scale, so an entrant can take position there without displacing the incumbent in Drilling Equipment.
The study cuts the market on ten axes in all: equipment type, application, well stage, well type, resource type, pressure rating, material, operation mode, ownership model and end user. Application separates Onshore, Shallow Water Offshore, Deepwater Offshore and Ultra-Deepwater Offshore. Well type separates Vertical, Directional, Horizontal and Multilateral Wells. Buyers who need the figures behind any of these cuts will find them in the report.
Regional leadership in neighbouring energy markets looks different. Asia Pacific leads the grid-scale energy storage market with 38% of revenue through 2034, and North America holds 28% there. In oilfield equipment the order is reversed, with North America ahead at 33% and Asia Pacific at 27%.
Reading the forecast
The 3.35% rate is a weighted result. Subsea Equipment at 6.09% pulls it up, Drilling Equipment at 2.14% pulls it down, and North America's dependence on the United States shapes the regional picture. The downside and upside cases, at 1.8 percent and 4.5 percent a year, bracket the base case on crude prices, deepwater awards and national oil company drilling programmes.
