The rehabilitation robots market is forecast to reach USD 6.72 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 16.51%. The rehabilitation robots market starts from a 2025 base of USD 1.7 billion, and the forecast runs from 2026 to 2034. This analysis sets out what the report data says about the rate, the lines that carry it, the case for a slower outcome and the places where revenue is concentrated.

Market size and growth rate

Revenue was USD 0.63 billion in 2020 and USD 1.4 billion in 2024. It stands at USD 1.7 billion in 2025. The compound growth rate over the historical period was 21.96%, so the forecast does not ask the market to start growing. It asks the market to keep going at a lower rate.

The base case holds 16.51% evenly from 2026 to 2034 and reaches USD 6.72 billion. No ramp is applied. A forecast that extends an observed trend is a different proposition from one that proposes a turn, and the report treats it as the first kind.

Two alternative cases share the same 2025 base of USD 1.7 billion. The bear case ends 2034 at USD 5.003 billion. The bull case ends at USD 8.123 billion. Each rests on one stated assumption, set out below.

What is driving it

The 16.51% headline is a weighted result. No single line on the type axis grows at that rate.

Brain-Computer Interface Robots adds the most incremental growth. It grows at 26.9% against the market's 16.51%, moving from USD 0.068 billion in 2025 to USD 0.605 billion in 2034. Its share of revenue rises from 4% to 9%. The spread between this line and the rest of the axis is wide, so exposure to this line, and not to the market as a whole, determines a supplier's own growth rate.

Revenue is also concentrated where it already exists. North America is the largest region at USD 0.646 billion in 2025, or 38% of global revenue. It reaches USD 2.15 billion by 2034 and holds 32%. Europe holds 28%, rising from USD 0.476 billion to USD 1.68 billion. These two regions hold most of the base and most of the revenue added over the period. A plan that weights the five regions equally misstates where the growth is.

Demand for adjacent equipment points the same way. The physiotherapy equipment market is forecast at USD 37.9 billion by 2034 at a 5.93% CAGR, and its product type axis includes a robotic and exoskeleton-assisted level of automation. Rehabilitation robots grow from a much smaller base at a much higher rate.

What could slow it

The bear case ends at USD 5.003 billion in 2034, against USD 6.72 billion in the base case. It rests on one assumption: hospital capital budgets stay tight, reimbursement stays limited to a few markets, and home devices fail to show clear clinical benefit. Growth in that case holds near 12.5% a year.

Two structural features of the data add to the exposure.

  • The largest line is not the fastest. Therapy Robots holds 38% of 2025 revenue (USD 0.646 billion) and grows at 13.9%. It still reaches USD 2.083 billion by 2034, but its share falls to 31%. This is a drag on the average and not a decline.
  • The total depends on one line. A market that leans this heavily on one type concentrates its exposure there, and a shift in demand for Therapy Robots moves the total more than any other single change on the axis.

The regional picture carries a similar concentration. North America is worth USD 0.646 billion in 2025, and USD 0.568 billion of that is the United States, 87.9% of the region. The US reaches USD 1.87 billion in 2034. Regional totals therefore move largely with one country's demand.

Hospital spending also shapes adjacent categories. The hospital beds market is forecast at USD 8.18 billion by 2034 at a 6.48% CAGR, and it is sold into the same hospital capital budgets that the bear case assumes stay tight.

The upside case is the mirror image. The bull case reaches USD 8.123 billion by 2034 if reimbursement for powered exoskeletons spreads to several large national systems, component costs fall faster than expected, and home and remote rehabilitation devices reach routine use. Growth in that case is 19% a year. Home-based care is covered in the remote patient monitoring market, which is forecast at USD 70.8 billion by 2034 at a CAGR of 11.3%.

Where the growth sits

By region, the report gives these shares of global revenue:

  • North America: 38%
  • Europe: 28%
  • Asia Pacific: 24%
  • Middle East and Africa: 6%
  • Latin America: 4%

North America leads with 38% of revenue through 2034. Asia Pacific is the third region at 24% of revenue, behind Europe.

By type, the 2025 shares are:

  • Therapy Robots: 38%
  • Exoskeletons: 33%
  • Telerehabilitation Robots: 8%
  • Assistive Robots: 17%
  • Brain-Computer Interface Robots: 4%

Therapy Robots and Exoskeletons are the two largest lines. Brain-Computer Interface Robots is the smallest in 2025 and the fastest-growing. It is the place on this axis where share changes hands at scale, so it is where an entrant can take position without displacing the incumbent in Therapy Robots.

The report segments the market further by robotic structure, extremity, mobility mode, application, patient age group, control technology, actuation technology, component, end user and sales channel. Applications include stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. End users range from hospitals and rehabilitation centers to home care settings and sports and wellness centers.
